The Dragon Lords of Valdier Series is a sci-fi, preternatural romance with strong alpha males and [even stronger] females. To get the most out of each book they should be read in order as the characters interact with each other throughout the story. The order [so far] is:Abducting Abby (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #1)Capturing Cara (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #2Tracking Trisha (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #3)Ambushing Ariel (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #4)For the Love of Tia (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #4.1)Cornering Carmen (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #5)Paul's Pursuit (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #6)A Dragonlings' Easter (Dragonlings of Valdier, #6.5)Twin Dragons (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #7)A Dragonlings' Haunted Halloween (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #7.5)A Dragonlings' Magical Christmas (Dragon Lords of Valdier #7.6)Jaguin's Love (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #8)The Old Dragon of the Mountain's Christmas (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #9)Occasionally I become bored with a series if it gets too long but not so with this one! The time span for books 1-6 [those are the ones I've finished reading so far] is approximately one year. Each Dragon Lord book is about one of the brothers or sub characters and how they found their true mate. The Dragonling Books are about the Dragon shifter's children. Each book is about the events that lead up to the discovery of their mates as well as what their mates think these alien dragon shifters can do with the whole "I claim you so you are mine" bit.The plot is based on events happening during a war. I felt that Smith keeps each story distinctive even though it's for the same time period with the same family. I also like the fact that there are a lot of mini conflicts and struggles throughout the stories. Smith weaves sub-characters in that are interesting and worthy of their own stories.Tracking Trisha (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #3) is about Trisha Grove and Prince Kelan Reykill. When Trisha and her friends inadvertently witness the existence of the alien dragon men, they must be taken to Valdier to ensure that their knowledge of these aliens is not passed on.Trisha has been trained in guerrilla warfare from her father. She is strong, stubborn and completely devoted to her father. Kelan is a strong warrior that is pompous and is the commander of the warship V'ager. He is known for being able to keep his calm as well as his control over his dragon side and the symbiosis that attached to him as an infant. In Trisha he finds his true mate, a woman his dragon, his symbiosis and he himself wants and accepts above all others. Trisha runs circles around Kalen and some of his best trained warriors by 'tagging' [to symbolize their death such as in military training exercises-or in paintball ;)] them when they are searching for her in the wilderness. This is just one of many antics that made this story so enjoyable. There's an interesting premise behind the dragon people and their symbiots, intriguing storyline, strong character development, and hot sex scenes! If you like all that then you will definitely like this book.
