I enjoy the older M.C. Beaton books as I finally have time to read non-professional books and read "just for fun". I really appreciated Beaton's publisher (or whoever decided) putting approximately 17 books for sale for $1.99. It is worth much more to buy them this way than to "rent" Kindle Unlimited for $10.00 a month, where at the end of it all, you have nothing. This way, one can go back and re-read. The publishers need to SERIOUSLY LOOK AT PUTTING MORE OF THESE OLDER BOOKS ON SALE FOR $1.99 ESPECIALLY DURING THE GIFT-GIVING SEASON OF CHRISTMAS.As to a review for this book, I have not completely finished it yet but I am SO GLAD to finally have a plot where the woman is not 17-20 and the male 32-34. It seemed like I read no less than 10 of those in a row! They are good books - good historical detail without getting bogged down in it, sarcastic and funny parts (as opposed to heaving breasts and sex on every other page, and a good solid plot, if not a little predictable in some of the ones I read in a row. I give the book 5 stars because M.C. Beaton can write!
