A BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF THE AUTHOR (Chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel, Ret) Reginald Carter, is a native of Miami, Florida, born to the parents of Mr. William G. Carter and Mrs. Calista (aka Jackie) Carter, Herring. He is the middle son of three siblings, the late William Q., Clifton Glenroy, Carter, and Saundra (Herring) Jenkins. Chaplain Carter attended Dunbar Elementary School, and graduated from Dorsey Jr. Sr. High in 1955. While in high school, he played the flute and sang in the chorus. He was nominated vice-president of the senior class during his senior year. Chaplain Carter was awarded a Musical Scholarship in order to attend college. He matriculated the first year at Morehouse College, Atlanta, Ga. In 1955, he sensed a calling to the ministry and was licensed him to preach. He transferred to Morris Brown College and graduated in 1960 holding a Major in Philosophy and Religion with a Minor is Sociology. Chaplain Carter was inducted into the Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. 1957. During 1956 the campus was visited by SCLC staffers who recruited me and other students to join them in a "peaceful march" to the then, segregated downtown Atlanta. In 1965, Chaplain Carter attended the International Theological Center, Atlanta, Ga. and in 1967 earned a MRE Degree. He enlisted in Georgia's US Army National Guard in 1970 and became Georgia's First Black Commissioned Officer holding the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Chaplain joined the active army and served from 1975 to 1979. He joined the US Army Reserve and retired in 1990 as Chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel. He met and married the lovely Daisy R. Rice. Chaplain Carter founded "The Church of The Lord's Gospel, Inc.," a non-denominational Christian Church. He produced and directed a radio broadcast locally on WXLL and a live, weekly telecast on People's TV entitled, "The Church." Since 1981 he serves as Chaplain with the DeKalb County Police Department. Chaplain Carter resides with his wife and son, Reginald Q. Carter in the county of DeKalb, Georgia.
