Karl and Rick are getting old, let's face it. But even though they are both around 60 (!), they are not playing it safemaking the same album and tracks over and over again. Instead, they are taking real risks and changing up their working methods with the "Drift" Series. Basically they decided to record a new track a week (and sometimes its accompanying video). This new process forced them to be more spontaneous and not spend the time second and third guessing every single decision from adding ectra rhythmic tracks, overdubbing a keyboard melody line or (over) mixing the life out of a track. It's all here--all the styles they've previously worked in from techno to house, trance to near ambient and more! If they had chosen to just make a double album of say 24 tracks, this would be heralded as their greatest album since "Dubno" and "Second Toughest." The high points are absolutely as good as any classic Underworld you've ever enjoyed. Having said that, I'd say this is for their hardcore fans who can't get enough of their creativity. Not the place to start for the more casual fans, that would be the singles compilation 1992-2002.
