This is a great book. I have used it to start my 6 year old off playing the recorder & reading music. It gradually introduces all of the symbols and types of notes, as well as how to play the notes on the recorder (handy for me too as a refresher on the various symbols!). It starts from basic one note tunes, and builds up, so genuinely a 'from the beginning' book, which was exactly what I was after to not overwhelm my daughter.
